About The Event

Scar tissue can have surprising superficial and deep impacts on the body which are (more often than not) overlooked by health professionals. Massage professionals and manual bodyworkers need to consider the physiological effects of scar tissue which can have a huge restriction on muscles, fascia, nerve pathways, circulatory pathways and lymph flow. Not treating scar tissue can be the catalyst for many of our chronic conditions.

In this course, we weill learn the definition of scar tissue, the good side and bad side of scar tissue and how it is formed. We will examine where scar tissue falls in line with the healing process by looking at soft tissue dysfunctions as well as discussing how scar tissue forms into a stubborn chronic dysfunction if left untreated. We will discuss the physiology of of scar tissue, stages of healing, different types of scars and their physiological and psychological effects and various treatments used by many therapists to minimize or totally rid the body of scar tissue.

Techniques include but are not limited to: Cross fiber friction, myofascial release, ART, STR and IASTM.
