Empowering Massage Therapists: ProHealth Defense Course.

Are you ready to take control of your professional boundaries, personal safety, and handling of inappropriate behavior in the workplace? The ProHealth Defense: Safeguarding Practitioners from Inappropriate Behavior course is designed to empower and protect you with comprehensive education and practical strategies. This exciting and transformative class is  NCBTMB approved and meets all CEU requirements, including mandatory ethics components, and is essential for every massage therapist and healthcare professional.

Day 1 : Foundations of Safety and Legal Literacy. Focuses on establishing the core principles of professional boundaries and legal knowledge. It covers instinctual awareness as a primary defense mechanism, empathy, and understanding the victim's perspective, and strategies to counteract manipulation. Participants will delve into legal literacy with a detailed look at Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes and the Pennsylvania Code. The day also includes case studies on boundary violations, technqiues for maintaining alertness using Cooper's Color Codes, and the importance of nonverbal communicationin enforcing boundaries. Additional topics include recognizing grooming behaviors, handling inappropriate conduct, and the significance of documenting incidents. 

Day 2 : Advanced Strategies and Psychological Dynamics. Builds on the foundational knowledge with advanced strategies for managing sensitive situations and psychological dynamics. It addresses handling sensitive reactions such as erections during massage therapy and managing high-stress encounters to avoid amygdala hijack. The day includes case studies on defensive strategies for mobile therapists and navigating dismissive responses when reporting assults. Participants will also learn about digital vigilance, criminal insights into victim selection, and legal protections for healthcare workers. The course concludes with discussions on delayed reporting, preventing secondary location assults, and empowering closure through lesssons and forward pathways.

The instructor: Kaci Jones, LMT since 2010. Owner and operator of Keysar Center of Massage in Centralia, WA from 2010 to present. She focuses on enhancing situational awareness, self-defense, legal understanding, professional boundaries, and incident documentation. It aims to equip massage therapists with the skills and knowledge needed to handle inappropriate behavior confidently and professionally. By taking this course, LMT's can ensure their safety, comply with state regulations, and maintain a respectful and professional work environment.

This class is open to PSMT massage students and staff. You do not need to be a LMT to take this class.
