About The Event

Many people have heard of the Alexander Technique and assume that it has something to do with posture. Yes and no. Better posture is often a bonus side effect. It is about regaining your innate poise, ease, grace, and power as you go about your life. This is especially helpful if you are a massage therapist, but it can be used to help anyone do anything more effectively. In the intro class you will learn about F.M. Alexander and the basic components of his technique. You will spend time awakening your kinesthetic sense and exploring activities in which you wish you were more comfortable. You will learn about undoing the habits that no longer serve you so that your innate coordination can come to the forefront of your experience. This class often involves, but is not limited to, the massage table and how you work with clients. Each class is tailored to what you most want to learn and where you most want help.  If you are comfortable with it, you will receive gentle hands-on work and verbal guidance. If you prefer verbal coaching only that is entirely possible.

Massage tables provided by the school. Please bring sheets and cream.

Jenny Briggs has been a massage therapist since 1998. She studied privately with her AT teacher and then completed a three-year training course to become a certified Alexander Technique instructor herself in 2007.
