Foundations of Oncology Massage with Aimee Heim - 24 hours NCBTMB approved

This comprehensive 24 hour course is designed for the massage therapist seeking to provide bodywork for the oncology patient throughout their cancer experience. the participant will learn about cancer's origin, identification, staging, past and current treatments, and develop an understanding of how best to manage their client with a cancer diagnosis. A historical timeline for treatment over the past 100 years will be explored. The participant will review an advanced intake assessment to correctly define the oncologic population, and consider the potential side effects from treatment prescribed as it impacted the lymphatic, immune and other body systems. Providing a massage session tailored to their clients' unique needs will be discussed, demonstrated and return demonstrated by each participant, for a variety of cancer presentations, with an emphasis on breast and other gynecological cancers, prostate, skin, colon and lymphoma.
