About The Event
While you may get more from this class if you have attended an Alexander intro class, it is not required or necessary to have previous AT experience. Come learn or review the basic principles of the Alexander Technique especially as they pertain to sitting and standing with dynamic ease. People sit and stand for large portion of their lives and are often uncomfortable when doing so, overcorrecting between tense "perfect" posture and a slump. With this class you will explore how to find a happy medium so that you have your innate poise and power in whatever position suits you in a given moment. If you are a massage therapist, sitting and standing are anything but static, so it is good to explore supported easy movement within these shapes of being. If you are comfortable with it, you will receive gentle hands-on work and verbal guidance. If you prefer verbal coaching only that is entirely possible.
Massage tables provided by the school. Please bring sheets and cream.
Jenny Briggs has been a massage therapist since 1998. She studied privately with her AT teacher and then completed the three year training course to become a certified Alexander Technique instructor herself in 2007.
