Alexander Technique: Hands with Jenny Briggs

While you may get more from this class if you have attended an Alexander intro class, it is not required or necessary to have previous AT experience. Learn or review the basic principles of the Alexander Technique as they apply to your hands, especially if you are a massage therapist. Look at the anatomy of your hands and how they connect into and are supported by your whole body. Explore how you can you take care of your hands by attending to your whole self and the support that is around you and within you at all times. If you are comfortable with it, you will receive gentle hands-on work and verbal guidance. If you prefer verbal coaching only that is entirely possible.

 Presenter: Jenny Briggs has been a massage therapist since 1998. After five years in the field, she thought she would have to give up her career due to pain in her wrists and hands. After taking one continuing education class on the Alexander Technique, she was on the way to saving her career. She studied privately with her AT teacher and then completed a three-year training course to become an Alexander Technique instructor herself, becoming certified in 2007.
